Grad Student Assistant Application

Applications are now being accepted for the Graduate Student Assistant (GSA) program for the 38th Photovoltaic Specialists Conference, June 3rd - 8th 2012, at the Austin Convention Centre in Austin TX. All students planning to attend the conference are eligible to apply for the program.

The role of the GSA includes such responsibilities as sitting in on technical sessions to provide assistance to the chairs and speakers, helping out with the running of evening events, and providing general assistance to conference attendees. In addition, some GSAs will assist with the Solar Day activities on Sunday June 3rd. Each GSA will be expected to work between 15 and 18 hours over the course of the week. GSAs will be assigned to sit in on their preferred technical sessions where possible.

Successful applicants will receive:

    • Complimentary conference registration ($100 value)
    • Stipend for travel and accommodation costs ($500 value)

Criteria for selection will include lead authorship on a presentation (oral or poster), availability to attend the entire conference, degree currently undertaken, year of study and recent publications history. We encourage all students to apply, and we aim to recruit a diverse group of students from across national and international institutions.

Past participants have found the GSA experience to be extremely rewarding, with the opportunity to get to know all the other students on the program, as well as interacting with conference attendees from across the PV industry, academia and government sectors.
