|Field Effect in CdSeTe/CdTe Solar Cells with Biased Spectroscopy|

Photoluminescence (PL) and time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) measurements were performed under external bias on thin CdSeTe/CdTe solar cells. The results indicate that internal field effects which go unnoticed during traditional, unbiased spectroscopy measurements may be more consequential than generally realized. We show that modulating the internal field strength can have a dramatic effect on PL intensity and TRPL lifetime, and that injection light itself can have significant effects on the field. In addition, probing the field behavior with bias can allow the determination of transport characteristics, such as mobility.
